Data Recovery Service
Data Recovery for hard drives, usb flash drives and other types of electronic stored memory.
There are 3 common types of Hard drive crashes: Logical failure , PCB failure and Mechanical failure. We do a free evaluation of your drive, so you really don’t need to know which type of issue your drive may have. Regardless of the amount of time needed to evaluate your hard drive, if we can’t help you, we don’t charge you!
In a logical failure, the drive’s components may be physically undamaged, but because of either a corrupt file system, accidental formatting or many other reasons, the drive is not able to find and navigate its own data. However, that data may still exist on your drive. If your drive issue is a logical failure, we are setup to scan your drive and retrieve your files. Files can be transferred to DVD, a new hard drive or an external drive. Just drop off your computer and we will handle the rest. Please note that depending on the condition of the drive, it could take a few hours or possibly days to retrieve your data.
Labor: $50.00 up to 2 TB. Price may be higher for larger drives.
USB Flash Drives Available at cost or you can supply your own.
New hard drive if needed: Price depends on brand and storage size.
PCB failure. ( Printed Circuit Board ). There may be obvious damage to the circuit board that may keep the hard drive from spinning or being recognized. Some PCB failures may cause a clicking sound on the drive. The boards can normally be replaced, repaired or be reprogrammed (firmware). There may be times where the data can be recovered, but we may suggest transferring the data to a new drive. I refer this type of work to a local business that is incredibly skilled and reliable with data recovery. Their minimum charge is $399.
A mechanical failure means that your drive has broken parts that are preventing it from working. Busted drives often make a telltale clicking or buzzing sound as they attempt to access their files. If you hear that, your data may still be there, but you may need to call in the experts.Being that this type of failure may take specialized equipment, Desktop Repairs may not be qualified to fix hard drives with certain mechanical failures, but let us look at it and if we can’t help you, we don’t charge you! We have been successful with spindle problems and stuck heads. Other issues like dead motors or bad bearings will need a specialist.
There are several companies that do specialize in this type of service. I refer this type of work to a local business that is incredibly skilled and reliable with data recovery. Their minimum charge is $399.
